Transitions - A New Generation

Have you ever thought about getting Transition lenses? Long are the days of your grandmother’s transitions where they took forever to turn clear indoors. We’re here to show you that Transitions are a great option for everyone - kids, adults, and seniors! They will protect your eyes all the time, and they now come in some very fashionable and trendy colours. Transitions also deliver all of the benefits that you would want: protection, outdoor darkness, full indoor clarity, fast responsiveness, and long-lasting performance.

Recently, Transitions has released Transitions GEN 8, which is equipped with some incredible breakthrough technology. The lenses now turn darker outdoors, return to clear faster than ever, and are fully clear indoors! Further, Transitions will adapt to the amount of UV radiation they are exposed to - that means they will turn darker on a very sunny day and be a lighter shade when there are lots of clouds in the sky. I bet you your regular sunglasses can’t do that!

Transitions are also a great choice if you are sensitive to light. A study showed that "clear lens wearers’ sensitivity to light is reduced by 44% when wearing Transitions Signature GEN 8 lenses” [1]. This means less squinting, less shielding your eyes from the sun, and less adjusting your screen brightness. Better yet, if you work in an environment with a lot of windows, Transitions lenses will become slightly tinted to help soothe light-sensitive eyes. Further, Transitions lenses include a blue light coating that will help filter harmful blue light that is emitted by screens.

If we haven’t convinced you yet, keep reading below on some more advantages and considerations to take into account when deciding whether or not Transitions are the right choice for you.

Advantages of Transitions:

  • Cost-Effective - With Transitions lenses, you have both a clear pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses in one!

  • Convenient - No need for swapping between your glasses and sunglasses. This will also reduce the chance of losing your glasses since you will always be wearing them and thus, you do not have to carry around two pairs of glasses.

  • Protection - Transitions lenses offer 100% UV protection and also include a blue light filter.

  • Fashion Forward - Choose from a wide variety of colours - blue, purple, emerald, amber, or classic grey or brown.

Disadvantages of Transitions:

  • Affected by Cold Weather - Transitions are affected by cold weather - this means they will take a bit longer to react to UV rays in the colder months.

  • Classic Transitions are ineffective in Cars - Many cars nowadays have a UV blocker on windshields. Since Transitions react to UV rays, they will be ineffective behind a windshield. However, there are XTRActive Transitions, which work differently and will darken behind windshields in a car. Be sure to ask for XTRActive Transitions if you want your lenses to go dark while you drive.

  • Might Not be Polarized - Even though original Transitions protect you from 100% of UV rays, they are not polarized, meaning they will not get rid of some of that glare from the sun. However, as you might have guessed, Transitions does have a product that comes polarized - Transitions Vantage. If polarized lenses are important to you be sure to ask for Transitions Vantage. Keep in mind that the Transitions Vantage lenses are only available in grey or brown.
