The Best Glasses for Your Face Shape
Do you dread buying new glasses because you just don’t know what looks best on you? This is something we hear all the time at the office. Our style experts here at Avenue Optical are trained to determine your face shape and what glasses would look best on you! We also take into account your colouring, personality, and lifestyle. If you want to figure out what your face shape is, then keep on reading and explore some glasses that would look great on you!
There are five basic face shapes: round, oval, square, heart, and triangle. To determine your face shape, you will need to measure the width of your forehead, the width of your cheeks, the width of your jaw, and the overall length of your face. Once you have done that, you will fall into one of these five face shapes:
Round - Your face is equal in width and in length. You have rounder cheeks.
Oval - Your face is longer than it is wide. Your forehead and jaw are slightly narrower than your cheeks. Your jawline is more rounded and has no sharp angles.
Square - Your forehead and jaw are the same width. Your jawline has sharp, defined angles. Your cheekbones tend to be more angular.
Heart - Your forehead is the widest part of your face. Your chin comes to a point. Often, your hairline comes to a point at the center of your forehead.
Triangle - Your jaw is the widest part of your face. You have a narrow forehead.
Now that you have determined your face shape, take a look at some of our glasses recommendations below. All of these glasses can be found at our office!
Round Face Shape
Wide frames with slightly curved edges look best on round faces, making them appear more oval. Try to avoid frames with sharp angles.
Our Suggestions:
Caroline Abram, Liv frame in light tortoiseshell
Xavier Garcia, Stan frame in black and electric blue
Oval Face Shape
Most eyewear styles suit this face shape. Maintain natural facial balance with soft, oversized shapes. Avoid harsh angles and lines.
Our suggestions:
Lumineye Eco-Friendly Eyewear, LU00017 frame in rose gold
Metrospec, Payton frame in blue
Square Face Shape
Rounder frames counteract the sharpness of the square shape. Consider upturned frames. Avoid sharp angles.
Our suggestions:
Lamarca, Mosaico frame in red mosaic
Dilem, ZT005LD frame in olive and orange
Heart Shape Face
Smaller, curved shapes compliment heart face shapes. Avoid wide, angular frames.
Our suggestions:
Gensdumonde, Hobart frame in white and gold
Dilem, Z1D101LD frame in tortoiseshell and gunmetal
Triangle Face Shape
Semi-rimless frames offset the wide lower-half of the face and create a nice balance to triangle face shapes. Avoid thick frames.
Our suggestions:
Koral by Gravity, F517 frame in black and gold
Dilem, ZS137XA frame in copper and black
